About Dr. Richard Zeitner

I am a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist, board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).  I am licensed in both Missouri and Texas, and I hold the Certification of Professional Qualification in Psychology, granted by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.  This designation permits me to practice across state lines, either in person or with the use of the telephone and video-conferencing. I am a Psychoanalyst, board certified by the American Board of Psychoanalysis. I am also credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.

 

I have 40 years of experience providing psychological services for adults, adolescents, couples, and families, practicing individual psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, couple and family therapy, and psychological testing with patients residing in the metropolitan Kansas City area, as well as in other states and foreign countries.

Training

I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Brigham Young University and completed my internship at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.  My post-doctoral training includes:

  • Family and marital therapy – Menninger Foundation, Topeka, Kansas

  • Psychodiagnostics – Menninger Foundation, Topeka, Kansas

  • Psychoanalysis – Topeka Institute for Psychoanalysis, a department of the Menninger Foundation, Topeka, Kansas

Academic Affiliations

I am a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst appointed by the Board of Professional Standards of the American Psychoanalytic Association for the Greater Kansas City Psychoanalytic Institute where I teach and supervise other psychotherapists and psychoanalysts in training.

 

In addition, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, and a faculty member of the International Psychotherapy Institute where I teach and supervise.
