About Dr. Richard Zeitner


Dr. Richard M. Zeitner is a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist, certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).  He is licensed in both Missouri and Kansas.  He is also a Psychoanalyst, Certified by the Board of Professional Standards of the American Psychoanalytic Association, and he is credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.


With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Zeitner provides psychological services, including treatment for adults, adolescents, and children, individual psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, couple and family therapy, hypnosis, as well as psychological testing, to patients residing in the metropolitan Kansas City area.  He practices in the Blue Springs area of the Kansas City metropolitan area.


Dr. Zeitner received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Brigham Young University and completed his internship at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. His post-doctoral training includes:

  • Family and marital therapy – Menninger Foundation
  • Psychodiagnostics – Menninger Foundation
  • Psychoanalysis – Topeka Institute for Psychoanalysis, a department of the Menninger Foundation


Academic Affiliations

Dr. Zeitner is a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst appointed by the Board of Professional Standards of the American Psychoanalytic Association for the Greater Kansas City Psychoanalytic Institute where he teaches and supervises psychotherapists and psychoanalysts in training.


In addition, Dr. Zeitner is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, and a faculty member of the International Psychotherapy Institute where he teaches and supervises.
